to walk up and down the stairs like an adult. But in the typical home,
this can be a dangerous activity. Children in most danger of falling
down the stairs are those in the zero-to-four year old age group. The
standard stair railing is not positioned at a suitable height to
accommodate small children, and provide little if any assistance.
Little Steps Handrail is specifically designed for small children. It is
mounted, extending six inches, beneath a regular handrail by connecting
three lightweight 1" diameter rods that allow a child to maintain a
firm grasp to the lower handrail, and by using three dual pull-lock
extension rods. The extension rods include an upper strap and a lower
strap that are wrapped around the existing handrail and the lower
handrail (top, middle, bottom) to form the child's handrail. The
extension rods are made from aerospace material that is lightweight and
inherently strong, yet attractive. The entire unit can be assembled and
removed without damage to the wall or existing handrail.
This is a much-needed invention, providing protection that is effective
and attractive for families with small children and stairs in the home.
