Castro says he's 'not yet ready' for birthday bash
Fidel Castro's absence from his belated 80th birthday celebration has reinforced suspicions that he is too gravely ill to return to power that he ceded provisionally to brother Raul last summer

ARRL extends birthday wishes to centenarian member
ARRL member Ralph Hasslinger, W2CVF, of Glen Rock, New Jersey, turned 100 years old on November 24. Hasslinger is said to be the last living charter member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association (QCWA). Noting the "rare privilege" of congratulating a League member on becoming a centenarian, ARRL CEO David Sumner, K1ZZ, extended birthday wishes to Hasslinger on behalf of the League. "The fact that you are still active on the air practically puts you in a class by yourself," Sumner wrote. "I know you have seen many changes since you were first licensed in 1922. One thing that has not changed is the unique camaraderie among radio amateurs of different generations. I hope we will continue to enjoy your fellowship for many years to come."

A Memoir to the Good Times We Had

-sigh- Yes, you could say I've been thinking about this quite a bit recently. I'm not exactly sure why. It'll just pop into my head sometimes and then pop right out. But it hasn't gone away yet, so here it is everyone.

A TRIBUTE TO FOND MEMORIES WITH JANE

+ The Snazztastic Creations of Mad-E and Miss Penguin. You know, we never published that site...
+ The Persian Guy as a cat. I don't think we could ever forget that. ^^
+ Eagle having a satellite dish on his head and intercepting all of our mind signals.
+ We always knew what the other was thinking, it didn't matter what we said. We just knew.
+ Her birthday party last year, when we put make-up on everybody blindfolded and it got all squishy and gross. Funny though. :))
+ Bobo - that cartoon she made about the fluba player and all the adventures he had with his milk. I loved that.
+ Yummyland!! "Yummyland's a country that we took over for our own entertainment, we are evil dictators, hahahahahaha! Hahahahahahaha - teehee teehee teehee - hahahahahahaha - giggle giggle gi-ggle!"
+ All of our fun times in elar last year where we would just mess around despite whatever the teacher said.
+ Runescape!! Particularly a certain joker. ;)
+ Martin Luther King Jr. was working in Albany, Georgia. When he saw a moose!! A yellow spotted moose!!
+ Intrepretive dancing. That probably takes the cake for all the crazy things we did during sleepovers. And then showing Bronco and The Persian Guy the next day..... hilarious.
+ Static roaring. At The Persian Guy's birthday party last year.
+ Telling each other things we'd never told anyone else.
+ Libya!!! We totally ruled the oil kingdom that day during science.
+ Making phone records, playing Sims, staying up all hours of the night on runescape, the phone, giggling about people, dancing, whatever it was.

Jane and I had a fun time when we were friends. In fact.... this blog is kind of because of her, seeing as that crappy tripod one was what I had at first. I take this morning to remember all the fun times we had as friends...... and also hope that we can somehow figure out all the crap from the summer and be friends again.

On a different note, I took the advice of TheMusingsofAMenopausalMama, and simply told Bronco I was sorry. It worked!!!! Thank you for that, I would have gone to some wacky extreme and probably made it worse than it already was. But my friends.... I'm not exactly supposed to be on the computer right now, and I don't know when my mother will return. No doubt you will be hearing from me again, but until then, farewell!!

I'm Going to Deteriorate of Boredom (I LUFF that word...)

I just made like...... 166 chibis. Wow. For a story. Wow. That is a LOT of chibis. I took a screenshot a few nights ago on SimCity 3000, and it was really funny, but it's being stupid and not letting me post it. :##: Bronco might be coming over today so we can do more homework stuff. Huzzah!!
Other than that, I've been pretty bored all day long. I need my mom to fix the security stuff on my computer, but she's at soccer with Mo. Not that that's any different from any other day. But still. Tomorrow is the day before Thanksgiving. Yea!!! We got the turkey today (actually my mom did, but whatever) and I am just further boring myself because these things are not of any interest. I have found quite a few random items in my drawer, today though. I found a picture of my 6th grade birthday party at Medievel Times, with Queen Beary, That Other Girl, and 2nddegreeblackbelt. He was shorter than all three of us then. It's hilarious to see that. And a fake chatroom conversation me, Yucca Root, the Dancing Sparkle, and another friend of ours had in pre-algebra. 6th grade. My mom is right... I am a computer junkie. I've been on ALL FREAKING DAY. But about an hour of that was typing my story, so I could protest creativity, actually, I could protest that for anything I've been doing. My chibis are all FOR my story, and blogging helps me express my inner anger and boredom. Well...... yeah. I suppose I shan't go on any longer. This is just making me more bored, complain about how bored I am. Maybe I'll take a bath. Yea!! Farewell my friends! ;)

I Love Eating

That's why Thanksgiving is like - one of my FAVORITE holidays. Plus, we get a week away from school. WHO WOULDN'T LIKE THAT???? Then, after Thanksgiving, the atmostphere is THE COOLIEST. The chills in the air bring coats to the backs of the people hustling about downtown, rushing to buy gifts before the rest of the crowd, only to find out that everyone else has gone early to avoid the holiday rush, and therefore everyone is beating each other with large shopping bags in effort to grab the last Nintendo Wii or box of candy canes. And the holiday music blares from loud speakers in the mall, where teenagers continue to horse around despite the change in season, and the shoppers do the same as they do downtown, wait until the doors open in the Gap, then rush full speed into them, attempting to grab the holiday shirts and toe socks. Oh the wonders of the holiday season..... and of course, lots of sugary snacks for those of us too young to buy gifts galore. :>> :>> :>> :>> But this year, I plan on getting gifts for, and getting them:
Bronco, but of course, and I have absolutely NO IDEA what to get him. And he already has my gift. Actually, he's had it since OCTOBER. I feel like a horrible girlfriend. Any ideas? :?: :?:
My mom: Probably some kind of book by Stephen King, or something.
My dad: A shirt, wait no, a hat!! He is in love with his hats
Ken: Manga manga manga MANGA!!!!!!!!
Mo: Something to do with soccer. Not sure what.
Cupcake: Make-up of some kind. I don't know how she grew up to be a girly girl with Ken, Mo, and I as older sisters. -shakes head-
2nddegreeblackbelt: Candy or gift card
The Persian Guy: Candy or gift card
Eagle: Candy or gift card
Queen Beary: Either soaps, perfume, and scented candles - or a book on romance, or something. Or maybe a gift package of both!! 88|
That Other Girl: Hmm... difficult. Probably pajamas. She seemed to like the ones I gave her a few years ago: "I've been good all year (mostly)" they read. She has a near Christmas birthday. Go figure.
Twinkle Doo: Uhh.......... dunno. Maybe a picture frame, or dvd. Summat like that. Something that she'll actually use, and won't put away. Maybe a shirt, or pants, I don't know. I'll have to think about this one.
And of course, lots of Christmas poems and holiday-ish pictures for all of my blogging friends.
Farewell my friends!!

Talking Pizzas - Wish NFL A Happy Super Bowl Birthday
Advertising pizza is nothing new, but pizza that advertises is a technological breakthrough. "Happy Forty-First Super Bowl Birthday NFL", says the pizza pie, will soon be on everyone's lips. Newly invented, unique, hand held food embossing (imprinting) tools are expected to create lasting gourmet impressions for consumers and new revenue streams for advertisers. Interactive Super Bowl advertising of embossed team logos and messages around the crust of a pizza, would be fun and quite effective. The tool's cost would be a fraction of traditional advertising mediums (like TV commercials) and would be a mega hit, repeated over and over again, instead of time sensitive, expensive minutes of air time. The Greatest Super Bowl Commercial Advertisement ever, is the one created by the fans themselves, having their NFL team logos of choice on their pizzas of choice. Everyday can now be a special NFL-Pizza Day. (PRWeb Nov 18, 2006)

For Your Consideration's John Michael Higgins talks about being a leopard

John_michael_higgins John Michael Higgins, veteran Christopher Guest films actor, is appearing in the latest from the Spinal Tap director, For Your Consideration.

He spoke to OK! magazine about his kids, 3 month old son Walter and 2 year old daughter Maisie. ; He said that Maisie "likes it when I'm a leopard and she rides on my back." ; For Maisie's second birthday, they had a cocktail party! ; Michael said, "No bouncy castles, just hi-balls and string cheese!" ; He said he's a whiz at diaper changes, "I'm fast, clean, and efficient. ; The baby doesn't know what hit him."

He's currently shooting Fred Claus (with Dame Judi Dench, Vince Vaughn, Kevin Spacey and Paul Giamatti) in London but his wife, Margaret Walsh, "is not thrilled about me leaving for four months." ;

I cantotally empathize with her! ; Especially with young children, who grow so much so quickly, four months is a really really long time! Josh went to Italy for a food conference in early November for 9 days but it felt like a month. ; Anya started standing much more and he was sad about that. ; He was worried he would miss her walking and told me "don't encourage her to walk!" ; When he returned home, Anya was excited about made the sign for "dada" but didn't want to go to him and clung to me. ; It took her a little while to warm up to him. ; My sister-in-law said she might have been mad at him for leaving us!

Have you or your husband ever had to go on a long business trip? ; How did you deal? ; Did your children remember you or him upon return?

Requesting Feedback

The Isabelle story is maybe over two-thirds done, and I sent it to some friends and family for feedback. Hopefully, they'll get back to me. So far, only my brother and Alex have really been reading it (that I know of). That's out of eight people, including my parents.

You'd think that your own parents would give you feedback on your first publishable piece. But no. That's too much to ask for. They've already given all of their health, happiness, and money, so I guess a little feedback is just over the top.

(Kidding, mom. Kidding, dad. You'll just say you like it and tell me how smart I am, which isn't exactly constructive feedback, but it does feed my ego. Then at Christmas you'll tell Aunt Neicy that "Beth writes beautifully!" and completely ignore poor Jon and his thought-provoking religious scribbles, as is tradition.)

In other news, I need encouragement because Tiger broke the laptop. Yes, now I have to write on my PC, where I have to fight every temptation to play the Sims 2 while I work. Or, rather, instead of working. Because it really is impossible to multitask with the Sims 2 -- except, of course, during those horrendously long loading sequences because my lots are too big and my ram is too small. Then I can work on the paper copy, which I printed out on the printer that my parents got me for my birthday.

So. -1 old laptop. +1 new printer. Seems like a fair trade. Maybe.

I also used birthday money to buy the 2007 Writer's Market, which, as you know, is completely necessary for any writer who wants to get published anywhere. I'm going to try and publish a story that got me second place in my college's creative writing contest last year. I was beat out by a guy writing about people dying of AIDS in Africa and how nobody cares. So second place wasn't half shabby.
